Bile Acid, Sphingolipid, and Liver Disease Research at VCU

The Zhou Lab at Virginia Commonwealth University studies how bile acids, sphingolipid signaling, gut-liver communication, and cellular stress pathways contribute to liver and gastrointestinal diseases.

Our goal is to identify molecular mechanisms that drive disease progression and translate those discoveries into new therapeutic strategies for conditions including NAFLD/NASH, alcohol-associated liver disease, cholestatic liver disease, cholangiocarcinoma, and drug-induced liver injury.
